Little Hawk Sport Fishing

July 16, 2018:
It was a light week of fishing for the crew of the Little Hawk. Capt. Joe Occhipinti said the Mark Faduli family caught plenty of short fluke and a few keepers. Next up was the Mark Gola charter who decked a mix of short fluke, New York keepers, porgies and sea bass.

    Fluke fishing took over the catches for anglers fishing aboard the Little Hawk this past week. Capt. Joe Occhipinti said he started the week off by putting the Brian Blair charter into plenty of shorts and a few nice keepers. He followed up with a good morning of fluke fishing for the Joe Magliucco party, while Dennis, Bill and their party saw the same type of fishing with tons of shorts and some New York keepers. On Saturday the J. Pips Paving group hammered the shorts and put together a catch of keepers to 7 pounds.

    It was all fluke fishing for anglers fishing aboard the Little Hawk this past week. Capt. Joe Occhipinti said he started the week off by putting some boy scouts from Troop 36 into a good morning of shorts and keepers. Next up was the Bill La Forge group who enjoyed a good bite of shorts and keepers to 5-12 pounds. The Barbra Henry excursion made it three good fluke trips in a row with another good pick of shorts and keepers. Regulars Bob Hight and his party topped a good pull of flatties with a pair of 5-pounders and a 6-pound pool fish. Then came the east winds on Friday and Saturday and the fishing was put on hold. Joe said it looks like there are more and more fluke moving into the bay so anglers should take advantage of these good numbers while they last.

    The Mike Sorinano-Terry Talcott charter enjoyed a good day of striped bass fishing decking linesiders to 43 pounds and then finished up with some fluking to start the week off aboard the Little Hawk. Capt. Joe Occhipinti said he next fished with the Dennis Appelby-Bill Schnyer group who had good action with short stripers and fluke to 6-12-pounds. On Saturday morning the Ken Stang trip saw plenty of short fluke and a lone keeper. Saturday afternoon's trip with the Dave Donnelly party enjoyed a good bite of short and keeper fluke.

  • June 11, 2018 Open or Close

    The Rich Reyment a.m. trip and the Marek Kawalec p.m. charter started the week off aboard the Little Hawk with a slow pick of fluke. A morning trip with the Bill Schneyer group found better fishing with a limit of stripers to 20 pounds, finishing up the trip with a good bite of flatties on Friday. Saturday morning saw the Bob Kondracki party maxed out with bass to 35 pounds, while the afternoon trip with the Glen Smith charter decked bass to 30 pounds and fluke to 6 pounds. On Sunday the Melanie Foster family had a shot of striped bass until the boat got attacked by boats, then finished up their trip with some fluking.
