My Joyce Charters

July 16, 2018:
Capt. Kenny of the My Joyce III reports a great week of weather and fishing, especially with big moo bass. Early in the week, the Costello family and friends had a quick bunch of quality bass up to 40 pounds. Awesome action was also the case early in the week for Riley, Courtney and Pearse, each catching a bass over 30 pounds. Riley caught a fish of a lifetime; a 48-pound striped bass, which was amazing. Montauk locals Terry and his boys, TJ and Reno all caught their biggest bass ever, which were all over the 40 pound mark. On Wednesday, the My Joyce III was honored to have our countries Wounded Warriors on board for a day of shark fishing. Unfortunately no mako's or threshers showed up in the slick, but everyone had a blast wrestling with a bunch of blue dogs. On the way in, a stopped for bass put away a bunch of nice fish to 49 pounds, of which the moo cow bass was taken by the organizer Nancy. What a great day for the crew and our Veterans. Thanks again from the Captain and Crew. Mike, Tom, Jim, Brian, Mike and Justin fished towards the weekend for a boat limit of stripers to 40 pounds. The crew only kept a few and released the rest unharmed. Sharron and friends had an awesome morning trip on the weekend with bass to 40 pounds. They kept only a few for the table and released the rest unharmed. The afternoon trip was insane with a bunch of monsters for the Brude group. The highlight of the trip was a 53.2-pound bass caught by Helen and Fran, which was kept alive, healthy and happy for a quick official weigh-in and a successful release to swim again. The Sunation Solar crew came out for another trip on Friday and did it again with easy limits of bass, just keeping what they needed and releasing the rest unharmed. Kudos to all those that released most of their catches this week and a very special congratulations to Capt. Ken for promoting "catch and release" among his clientele, so there'll be more big stripers to catch next year. On Saturday, Kyle and his buddies from the electric group had bass to 40 pounds while on the way to the sea bass and fluke grounds and then proceeded to put a nice catch of flatties and biscuits in the box to mingle with the stripers. There still are some space available for the remainder of the season. Contact Captain Ken at (516) 641-2138 for more details and check out their website at

Capt. Kenny of the My Joyce III reports it was a very busy week, with excellent action. Striped bass fishing was great with most of the fish in the 40 plus pound range, with the largest weighing in at 48.5 pounds. It seemed like the early morning or night tides were the best for the bass. Fluke fishing is good, as long as there was good drifting conditions. Anglers also enjoyed great sea bass and scup action all week. Saturday evening, Ron, Danielle, Austen and Roscoe had a great night with lock and load action on fluke, sea bass and other species. The daytime charter had no problem tucking away a limit of cow bass to 40 plus pounds.

Capt. Kenny of the My Joyce III reports up and down fishing this week, with some good trips, while others were a grind. Monday's Charter for Eric, Kyle, Craig, James, Mike and Greg was good with quality bass to 24 pounds and fluke to 8-pounds. On Tuesday, the Joe Marino Charter had 10 nice keeper fluke along with a bunch of shorts and then the group rounded out the day with 5 keeper bass along with some smaller fish. On Friday, the Dennis Ferraro group fished for fluke and were challenged by the pesky dogfish. Nonetheless however, they were able to get to a few quality fluke to 6 pounds into the box. A short while after Capt. Kenny broke out the diamond jigs and it was lock and load action on bass, blues and giant scup, all slamming the jigs and adding an exciting finish to the day. Saturday's A.M. trip for Aron, Travis, Wade, Taylor, Keith and Brooke resulted in insane diamond jig fishing with all of the bass, blues and scup they wanted to catch until their arms were about to fall off. Good tides and weather are on its way, so fluke fishing should improve dramatically. Call Captain Ken at (516) 641-2138 and book your trip and for more details. Also check out their website at
