James Joseph Fishing

August 13, 2018:
Capt. James from the party boat James Joseph III from Huntington reported action is fine with good porgy action "in between the real lightning and the fake lightning." More sea bass are mixing in with the scup. Once again fluke activity proved to be a slow, tedious pick; although some flatties to 10-pounds came to the net. Due to the lack of action on the flatties the captain said that he may pull the plug on the fluke trips. He asked that you please check the website or call the number in the ad for any updates. Only a handful of bluefish were found during the week.

Capt. James from the party boat James Joseph III from Huntington reported the threat of storms kept the crowds light but he only missed one sailing day during the week. The sea bass weren't sitting on the wrecks and pieces as they normally do and were instead chasing the anchovies along the beach. The captain looked for the birds, set up and hauled in the sea biscuits. Fluking was pretty good especially at the bottom of the tide to the outgoing. Every trip saw a summer flattie in the 6-pound plus class. Large sea bass were in the by catch with the fluke. Charters are available.

On one trip during the week the sea bass decided to show off and the fares were treated to good numbers of keeper sea bass to 4-12 pounds. Fluking is okay as the fish have retreated to deeper water, but some large fluke can be taken and the fares are picking away. Bass slowed down somewhat but some can be found in the deeper water.
