Hook House

July 16, 2018:
At Hook House Bait & Tackle they are saying crabbing is absolutely awesome both on quantity and quality. Good Luck Point and by the bridge and into the Toms River are good spots. Fluke are biting in the surf; Dan Domanski weighed in a nice one he got on a bucktail tipped with Gulp. Short stripers are all over, and eeling at night is producing a lot of fish for those who enjoy light tackle fishing.

At Hook House Bait & Tackle, the night shark fishing has definitely picked up. Don't forget to release them as quickly as possible and keep them in the water. Trevor Friesema, Cody Masso and crew landed 3 of 5 they hooked including a big beauty. Fluke fishing has been good on the beach from Ortley Beach to Island Beach State Park. Lots of shorts but there are a few keepers as well. Boat anglers are still picking up fluke at the BB and BI buoys. Gulp nuclear chicken on a bucktail with a teaser is the way to go. Keeper striped bass in the 20-pound range are being picked up at the canal for those fishing eels after dark. Crabbing on both sides of the Toms River has been good.

Jetty Ghost Mullnuts and bucktails tipped with Gulp with a teaser worked for a number of customers. Scattered blues popped up in some locations. They have heard of a few sharks at night on bunker chunks. Crabbing is definitely on the upswing on both sides of the Toms River.

Hector Valdes weighed in a nice 5.07-pound sea bass (yet another Dream Boat entry for Hector no doubt, congrats!)
