Fish Chatham Charters

August 13, 2018:
Captain John was preparing the boat for a Sunday night run to the canyon where they will target yellowfin and bigeye tuna. The skipper of Fish Chatham Charters told us a Hyannis boat has brought in a potential state record bigeye that pulled the scales down to 320 pounds. He had a few good trips to the Crab Ledge area this week with tuna in the 90- and 94-inch class. If you are looking to hook up to a freight train or catch a limit of stripers give Capt. John a call!

There were quite a few tuna in the 60- to 70-inch class for Fish Chatham Charters which has been alternating between tuna in the area of Crab Ledge during the past week and stripers. The tuna have been taken on live bait which has been the most successful method of hooking up. Captain John has also been working the rips for stripers in the 30- to 40-inch class, many of them on artificials and topwater lures. Give the skipper a call and take a trip, fishin' out of Chatham for either tuna or stripers and put the frosting on your summer.

Capt. Joe over at Fish Finders charters tells us that he is still catching some keeper flounder for folks, and Joe has fished through winds, and caught some fish. Frankie had a solid pool winning flounder last Tuesday, and Capt. Joe has done a fantastic job of finding keepers when a lot of folks aren't.

Very good bass fishing was the word from Captain John of Fish Chatham Charters who has been limiting out on quality stripers while working the Monomoy Rips. Thanks to a bigger boat and good radar they were able to get right on top of the fish every day. The tuna fishing has been hot and cold so he has been sticking with the stripers for now until that bite improves. While on the rips they were near waves breaking six feet high as they watched someone in a bow rider working the edge as though nothing was amiss. Some people have to have a guardian angel.

The last time I talked with Captain John of Fish Chatham Charters was just before he was heading out to the canyons in what he believed would be a stable weather window. He made that trip and was certainly glad he did. His party enjoyed great action with a blue marlin to the boat, five bigeyes crashing his spread and landing two of those frantic fighters. They also had several yellowfin and released a white marlin as well. He is still into very good striper action on the rips using live bait with fish from 30 to 35 inches. Give him a call.
