Capt. Ray from Miss Liane Sportfishing combined with Capt Jimmy Z of the Reel Determined and Capt. Larry of the Dreamliner and the three boats took a group of veterans out on a free fishing trip. The shindig included a buffet lunch when they returned to the dock. "It was a great trip, hearing their stories and we caught a lot of fish," Ray said. "We're grateful for all of our veterans, past and present." He also had the Joel Harris charter from Bordentown out and they had nonstop action. The offshore scene has heated up and Ray said he's ready to go whether you're looking to catch sea bass, fluke or want you try your hand at the tuna that are in the Spencer.

At Lacey Marine, Joey Mitchell said striper fishing seems to have finally turned with fish being taken on mojos and bunker spoons on the troll. Rumor has it that there were some nice fish also taken on snag-and-drop along local beaches. Right place at the right time is the name of the game when it comes to fishing bunker pods. Bluefish are still in the bay with trolling being the primary tactic to catch them. Ponytails and trolling plugs (SP Minnows specifically) are effective. However, with the amount of freshwater in the bay from the past week's heavy rain, it has been a little trickier to hook up. I have personally found the deeper water to be more productive. Fluke fishing opens up this Friday and there have been some good reports from those who have prefished and scouted some local spots. Spearing and new penny-colored Gulp! shrimp seem to be hot right now. That can quickly change though.
