Lady Flamingo

July 16, 2018:
I spoke to Capt. Bob Weigand of the Lady Flamingo on Knapp Street and his fares had a true potpourri. In addition to blues they connected with weakfish including one trip that saw 20 come over the rails, fluke, sea bass and porgies. The boat sails daily for bass and blues at 6:30 a.m. (718) 763-8745.

I spoke to Capt. Bob Weigand of the Lady Flamingo on Knapp Street and earlier in the week and up to the weekend blues activity was very, very good. The fares saw their rods bent by choppers from cocktail to medium. Boat regular Dan scored the Bonus Fish of the Week by slam dunking a massive 60-pound Black Drum. Over the weekend the east winds and swells caused a slowdown. However, some weakfish made an appearance on Sunday.

I spoke to Capt. Bob Weigand of the Lady Flamingo on Knapp Street and they had decent catches every trip with most trips decking cocktails to mediums. However, there were trips that had the jumbos growling. Boat regular Bucktail Bob hammered a 22-pound whopper and there most of the larger choppers are in the high teens to twenties. A few short bass were encountered on some days. The boat sails daily for bass and blues at 6:30 a.m. (718) 763-8745.

I spoke to Capt. Bob Weigand of the Lady Flamingo on Knapp Street and strong new moon tides created some tough conditions but blues were caught on every trip. The water outside the bay area was cold. The bay produced a catch of cocktails to mediums. The good news according to the captain is that the choppers are feeding on small sand eels and that hasn't occurred in years. Some short bass were in the mix and an occasional porgy came up. The boat sails daily for bass and blues at 6:30 a.m. (718) 763-8745.
