Lady Flamingo

September 16, 2019:
I had a chat with Capt. Bob Weigand of the Lady Flamingo on Knapp Street, and his fares enjoyed good catches of blues with fish to 8-pounds. Many fares limited out. The only really tough day was Friday in the harsh winds. The captain noted that the albies haven't shown yet but it should happen any day now. The boat departs daily for blues and bass at 6:30 a.m.

I had a chat with Capt. Bob Weigand of the Lady Flamingo on Knapp Street, and earlier in the week action was excellent as the blues continue to hold up their end of the deal. Fish from 2 to 7-pounds are inhaling diamond jigs. A few Spanish mackerel remain in the game. The boat departs daily for blues and bass at 6:30 a.m.

Aboard the Lady Flamingo on Knapp Street, an angler hauled in an 11-pound fluke that hit a diamond jig intended for a bluefish. Porgies and sea bass are biting very well in the bay, the Roundhouse, Marine Parkway Bridge, Breezy Point Jetty and the Canarsie Pier. The better sea bass action is at the Rockaway Reef and Atlantic Beach Reef. Quite a few blues have appeared. The cocktails are in the bay while the beaches in the Rockaways saw choppers in the 7 to 8-pound class. Spanish mackerel and bonito are still hanging in there at the Breezy Point Jetty. Snapper anglers are in a very happy mood at the docks and piers.

I had a chat with Capt. Bob Weigand of the Lady Flamingo on Knapp Street, and the blues are back in town and the fall potpourri is in its beginning stages. Action was terrific all week with many fares limiting out on choppers from cocktail to 17-pounds. The only exception was on Sunday as the boat faced some nasty wind conditions. A few Spanish mackerel have continued to come over the rails. Honorable mention goes to an angler who was aboard on Tuesday and hauled up a massive 11-12 pound fluke that hit a diamond jig. The boat departs daily for blues and bass at 6:30 a.m.
