Captree Fuel, Bait and Tackle

Brendan at Captree Fuel Bait and Tackle Shop on Captree Island reported anglers are seeing super action on sea bass, porgies, blowfish, weakfish, kingfish, blue claws and decent bay blues.

    Dylan at Captree Fuel Bait and Tackle Shop on Captree Island reported the docks are seeing non-stop snapper action, with blowfish taking clam baits on the bottom. Triggerfish and kingfish are also around the docks and Sore Thumb area. Weakfish are on the north side near the bridge, with fish to 5 pounds taking soft plastics. There is bait moving towards the inlet, with albies and bonito, and blues running the area. The fluke bite is good on the incoming, and the outside reef areas. Fish to 9 pounds have been reported. Mahimahi are on the floating debris outside as well. Resident bass are on the move with fish to 28 inches hitting small plastics.

    Dylan at Captree Fuel Bait and Tackle Shop on Captree Island reported the docks are still holding snappers, with fish to 10 inches. Blowfish and kingfish are also coming up. The Overlook Pier has also produced a few triggerfish. Fluking in the ocean has been good near the reef, taking Gulp. Spanish macs are also around, with rumors of albies as well. Out into the clean deep waters, bonito have been active. Off the rock piles, clams have worked well on triggerfish and several anglers reported huge cow nose rays while fluking.

    Brenden at Captree Fuel Bait and Tackle Shop on Captree Island reported that the docks are seeing tons of snappers due to all the peanut bunker. Blowfish and kingfish also remained active. The FI Reef produced fluke to 5 pounds before the east wind came in making it tough to get out. Spanish macs and bonito are in the inlet area, with cocktail blues in the mix. Fluking the inlet has been best on the incoming and slack tide. Triggerfish to 5 pounds were reported off the rock piles near the Thumb and Demo or the deeper holes at slack tide.

  • August 19, 2019 Open or Close

    Eric at Captree Fuel Bait and Tackle Shop on Captree Island reported snappers are running wild on the docks, with small spearing working well. Also on the piers, blowfish, kingfish and fluke are all being caught. Crabbing also remains red hot. On the boats, fluke action is good inside, with a lot of shorts, and sea robins. Outside, sea bass, fluke and ling are on the wrecks and pieces.
