January 22, 2018:
Capt. Mike and Capt. Andy on the Cape Queen are reporting that they had a rough month with frozen waters and slow fishing conditions, and the crew will pull the boat and try again in late March. Capt. Mike will take calls to go fishing and is offering early bookings for drum trips in April.

Capt. Mike and Capt. Andy on the Cape Queen had the Jim Hegeman bachelor party braving cold weather and snow on December 30 to finish off the year with striped bass. "Bait and birds everywhere and 13 Stripers in the boat," the skippers told us with fish from 30 to 44 inches. While the brutal cold ko'd the trips around New Years, the captains said they'll be running a few open trips coming up; give them a call to get in on the open invitation list.

Capt. Mike and Capt. Andy on the Cape Queen are still doing quite well, and the month of December was a solid one as customers took advantage of those deep-drop trips. There were limits of sea bass all around, and the striper trips were awesome, with 10 bass from 38 to 44 inches and a 34-pounder caught by Barry Pierce of PA leading the charge in the days leading up to Christmas. Rich Giandrea and his son had a couple bass for the table, as well as Dan Kerr and his pal Dan. Chuck Leeman of PA and his friends Charles and Anthony also took home some bass. Capt. Mike said they will continue concentrating on stripers in the New Year as long as those linesiders are hanging in there!

  • December 18, 2017 Open or Close

Capt. Mike and Capt. Andy on the Cape Queen said they went striper fishing on Saturday and came in after limiting out on unders with two overs to 45 pounds. "They were still biting when we had to leave," was the report we had.

  • December 11, 2017 Open or Close

"During a trip earlier in the week, we had a lot of success catching stripers," said Capt. Mike and Capt. Andy on the Cape Queen, reporting that as a group they caught over 40 fish, keeping 18. The largest of the fish was 46 inches and close to 50 pounds. "We will be fishing for stripers as long as possible and having open boat trips," the captains said.
