Capt. Herb from Cold Spring Harbor Charters said that the weather has been keeping the boat tied to the dock for most of the past week. He added that when he was able to get off the ropes he found decent sized porgies in Oyster Bay and Cold Spring Harbor. He said that they have also started to see some fluke in the local waters. He added that the fish they have been seeing have been well above keeper size. The captain also said that he's starting to run open boat trips when the boat isn't chartered.     Capt. Herb from Cold Spring Harbor Charters said that the bass bite has been pretty darn good this week. The captain said that he's been chunking and live lining bunker all week. The boat has seen a good shot of fish to 25 pounds on the bunker. He also said that the fluke bite has been consistent. The boat has seen plenty of fish over the 19-inch minimum size limit as well as some really nice fish in the 6 pound class come over the rails this week. When I asked Herb about bluefish he said that there were a few bite offs this week but he hasn't been able to land anything yet so he thinks that the blues are on the small side so far.     Capt. Herb from Cold Spring Harbor Charters said that he has started to see some short bass in Cold Spring Harbor. He added that there are a few keepers mixing in as well. He also said that the flounder fishing has been picking up and the bite has been on sandworms. He also mentioned that there have even been a few porgies coming up this week. Captain Herb said that he's running an open boat when he doesn't have a charter scheduled this season. These will be full day trips with a maximum of six anglers on board for each trip.     We heard that Capt. Herb from Cold Spring Harbor Charters had some excellent blackfishing over the past week. He said that none of the fish he has seen so far have been really big ones but plenty of fish in the 5 to 6 pound size range. He added that there are still loads of shorts on the bottom. The boat saw limits of tog on several trips this past week. He also mentioned that they have been seeing some good bluefish action on the peanut bunker in Cold Spring harbor with most of the fish falling into the 4 to 6 pound range. The captain said he's looking forward to their upcoming diamond jigging trips on the upcoming full moon cycle this month. Captain Herb noted that the water temps are still pretty warm at almost 67 degrees still and that some albies have been running inside the Harbor still.
