Black Rose Fishing Charters

June 26, 2017:
Captain Rich from Black Rose Fishing Charters reported the fishing is on fire on all fronts. Black sea bass, scup, haddock and he landed a nice porbeagle this week. Tuna fish are being sighted and Stellwagen is loaded with mackerel so it won't be long before that fishery breaks wide open.

Captain Rich from Black Rose Fishing Charters reported there were two big items for the week. Sea bass are still hitting in Buzzards Bay and loads of big fish are still around. The scup are there, but spreading out some. Anglers hit a bunch of smooth dogfish which are strong fighters on the ultralight gear. Having a bluefish take a jig on essentially a trout rod is awesome and will make you a better angler very fast. Secondly, finding the haddock on Stellwagen Bank is still easy enough with bigger fish and massive schools of mackerel. That means tuna are right around the corner. Captain Rich plans on doing some tuna fishing this week. There are some credible reports of big fish around, so he will be breaking out the big gear.

Captain Rich from Black Rose Fishing Charters told me that striped bass are hitting Savage Gear sand eels with reckless abandon. These lures are great because it is easy to release the fish unharmed. Captain Rich had one of his best trips this week with anglers enjoying over 30 releases of 20-pound fish or better. Adding to the variety, porbeagle sharks are around and the haddock are still biting. If the jig bite slows down, try adding a piece of mackerel to the teaser. With no dogfish around, it makes for easy fishing. Black Rose Charters has a few days open coming up and the tuna are around the corner.

Captain Rich from Black Rose Fishing Charters told me haddock fishing remains awesome from 90 to 220 feet of water. Stripers are hitting inshore, in the bays and on the beaches. Captain Rich was hitting big sea bass and porgies in Buzzards Bay and has been very busy. One lucky angler hooked the first porbeagle on 2017 on Saturday but lost it after a 20-minute battle. This is a great time of the season with plenty of options for good fishing!

Captain Rich from Black Rose Fishing Charters told me jumbo striped bass ruled the week. Running at 30 knots Captain Rich and crews were able to get their limit of haddock early, then run around and take advantage of awesome striper fishing. These fish pushed 30 pounds on light tackle and 1-ounce Savage Gear sand eels. Live bait was very effective too. Buzzards Bay fishing was fun this week as Captain Rich had guys who were looking for a short ride and fast action. They didn't care about the millions of porgy, but rather were happy catching their limits of sea bass on trout gear and small jigs. The laughter was contagious. Throw in some 6-pound blues on that trout gear and everyone wins. Black Rose Fishing Charters is taking reservations for these species and tuna starting on June 1st.
