Belsan Bait & Tackle

September 17, 2018:
Mason from Belsan's Bait and Tackle reported striper fishing was steady all week. Live eels have been the most productive baits during the evening bite, and both live and cut mackerel have been great during the daytime. There are plenty of mackerel from the mouth of the river to 4th Cliff. The North River is loaded with school-sized stripers, and the tube and worm fishermen have been doing fantastic. Bluefish have been very spotty out in deeper water a few miles offshore.

Jake from Belsan's Bait reported there are tons of 25- to 30-inch fish blowing up peanut bunker several times a day from the mouth of the North River to Scituate Harbor. The best bass fishing is in skinny water of less than 6 feet in depth. All the cliffs have been producing, with 4th cliff being the best. Mackerel are everywhere from the Scituate bell to a mile offshore. Bluefish have been mixed-in with some the blitzes.

Jake from Belsan's Bait reported that mackerel are still thick from the Scituate Bell to the Tar Pouch and the striper fishing remains excellent. The pogy action has slowed up to some extent but they are still very abundant with some big bass roaming beneath the schools. Fourth Cliff has been the hot spot for a big bass this week. If you are looking for big numbers of fish, the North River is loaded with schoolies. There has still been no reports of bluefish.

Mason from Belsan's Bait reported huge schools of pogies and mackerel have been hanging around 4th cliff for the last several days. Bass fishing is excellent! Mackerel are plentiful and easy to catch. The rocky coastline including 1st through 4th cliffs and Tobias Ledge has been giving up big numbers of nice stripers. There have been many fish up to 30 pounds and a few into the 40-pound range. Unfortunately there are still no bluefish to report. The offshore fishing for tuna and haddock is very good.
