At Harry's Outdoors, Jeff said they are still getting some reports of blackfish and hearing good things on ice fishing where the ice is safe. They are open year-round so be sure to stop in.

At Harry's Outdoor, Jimmy said it was pretty slow last week with the late week rains making a mess of things in Central and South Jersey ponds and lakes. "After this week I'm hoping it locks back up," Jimmy said. For fly fishermen, he said the fly show in Edison should be a killer event. Stop into the shop and get details from Jimmy.

Jimmy Harry's Outdoor, Jimmy did some ice fishing on Sunday in Burlington County and had pickerel to 26 inches, good size largemouth and quite a few panfish. "Some big pickerel yesterday, I was surprised," Jimmy said, reporting that the sweet spot was 8 to 12 feet in depth with shiners the bait of choice. In terms of finding a good location, he suggested finding green grass, but cautioned ice anglers to look for lines or stress cracks before you start drilling this week. "Up until now it's been awesome," he said of conditions, but with above freezing temps and rain forecasted for the week, folks should be very cautious.

At Harry's Outdoor, Jeff said a lot of guys are out on the hard water. The private ponds and irrigation ponds are solid; Assunpink and Rising Sun are still getting there (a little over 4 inches here as of January 2), though at this rate it could be pretty good by this time next week. Jeff was down at Oyster Creek before the January 1 striper closure in the back and had a bunch of short stripers. He did say there are still short fish out front for those throwing metals and teasers (hitting the teasers the most) around Manasquan and Belmar, those willing to brave the cold.

At Harry's Outdoors, Jeff said they are getting the reports of small stripers being caught on the beach, "but they are small and micro fish," he said. There are blackfish for the guys going for them and though that fishing has been slow, it should pick up in the coming weeks.
