November 13, 2017:
At Morrison's Marina, they are hearing about the striped bass at last as well. Making the run to Seaside has been the thing to do but those fish may be farther south soon enough. Morrison's has everything you need to clean and winterize your boat, and if you're looking for winter storage, they can help you out. Give them a call or stop in.

At Morrison's Marina, there are stripers showing up, big bass, including a 48-pounder that was caught Sunday. The fish are hitting bunker chunks for the most part, and bunker spoons are scoring fish as well. If you've been waiting for the big stripers, you've been missing out on sea bass and porgy fishing, which has been good. If you're looking for winter storage, they can help you out. Give them a call.

At Morrison's Marina, they are stocked with the items you need to winterize. There have been a few reports of bigger stripers taken on bunker spoons so if you haven't pulled your boat yet, there's still time to get after them. The reopening of sea bass season has been good for the captains of the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association, Jim Hutchinson Sr. said. Capt. Gary Dugan of the Irish Jig said the fishing was very productive with sea bass, porgies, blackfish, and bonito in the boat and lots of them on double-headers. They also got a show from dolphins and four breaching whales. Capt. Carl Sheppard of the Star Fish said Irv and Muriel Stoops and their guest Greg pulled in more than 80 fish in two hours, including a number of large porgies, nice sized triggerfish and scads of black bass. The keeper ratio was about 1 in 4. Capt. Bob Gerkens moved the Hot Tuna to Morehead City, NC for the winter and along the way picked up mahi off lobster pots in the Baltimore Canyon, then released a nice sailfish near Oregon Inlet, while catching several more mahi, a couple of king mackerel, and some skipjacks.

At Morrison's Marina, they've heard of some stripers being caught. Most of them are short bass right now but there was at least one keeper among the guys they've talked to. There are still some boats running to the tuna grounds to get in on that action but they hadn't heard results on the trips. If you're hoping to store your boat with them for the winter, call and reserve your spot now. Jim Hutchinson Sr. said the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association captains have been seeing some stripers showing up, with fish up to 20 pounds and even a 40-pounder being caught. He said there are large schools of bunker along with lots of bird play working over feeding schools of bluefish and false albacore off the southern LBI beaches.
