Tartan II

July 16, 2018:
Capt. Mike on the Tartan II said the bottom fishing trips have been awesome this week. Porgies have been feeding ravenously and they are big. Sea bass has been a little slower than expected, but they are still getting some nice keepers to sweeten the pile. Fluke have been hit and miss but they are around. The night striper trips have been great and sunset has been the hottest hour consistently with plenty of keeper fish coming over the rails. Mike is running trips every day which is keeping him on the bite, call now to get out there and score.

Capt. Mike on the Tartan II said the open boat trips have been doing very well on sea bass and porgies. The sea bass are becoming a little bit harder to concentrate on, but they are still doing well. Porgies have been very, very good. Fluking results have been good; more shorts than keepers right now, but the bite seems to be getting better. Night bass trips have been limiting out with sunset being a hot time to have a line in the water. The fishing has been good. Give a call for more details.

  • July 2, 2018 Open or Close

Capt. Mike on the Tartan II said the striper bite has been solid this week, they had a full boat limit before sunset on the Saturday evening open boat trip. Squidding seems to be coming to a rapid close. Sea bass action is still hot, a longer steam puts more fish in the box with some jumbo porgies mixing in. Locally the sea bass fishing is picking up too, so things are really looking good. Give Mike a call for some fast, multi-species action.

Capt. Mike on the Tartan II said local porgy and sea bass results have been a little slow, but he's been making a little longer steam and cleaning up on these tasty bottom fish. Fluke and bass action has been much more reliable closer to home, aside from those few days of east wind we had last week when the fishing proved to be tougher.

  • June 18, 2018 Open or Close

Capt. Mike on the Tartan II said the striper action was up and down this week; some days it was hot, other days they had to work for them. There was a good mix of sizes with keepers pretty easy to come by. He ran his first basssquid trips for 2018, the results were good and he's excited to run more of these night trips in the coming weeks. These trips run Friday and Saturday nights—open boat—call for more details. Fluking was tougher this week with screaming new moon tides, but they still caught fish and expect the bite to fire back up when the tides slow down a bit. To get in on all this mixed-bag action, give Mike a call!
