Tartan II

October 15, 2018:
Capt. Mike on the Tartan II said blackfish season started off great. He said he usually doesn't put much time into togging until the end of October, but they have been biting really well so they've been staying on them. Sea bass have been looking really good this week as well which has made for a great 1-2 punch on his trips this week. When you add in the fact that the scup bite is still running hot it makes for a bottom fishing trifecta that's hard to beat. Give Mike a call if you want to get in on one of these freezer-filling trips.

Capt. Mike on the Tartan II said the bottom fishing slowed down a bit this week, maybe due to the strong moon tides. They were still catching some nice scup and sea bass, but not at quite the same clip as last week. Trolling for stripers though has been very good this week with fast action and lots of bent rods. And they've been finishing most trips with some red hot bluefish action which everyone enjoys. Albies make an appearance on most runs too. Mike says he's been stockpiling green crabs in preparation for the blackfish opener, and is stoked to add them to the list this month. Call now to fish with a guy that likes to catch all species, give Capt. Mike a call!

Capt. Mike on the Tartan II said it was a wet and wild week thanks to some schizophrenic weather. He said they went out on that crazy wind day and it felt like they were being power-washed, but the fishing was fantastic. The gator blues they had been catching have moved on now, but they have been replaced with acres of harbor blues—perfect eaters. Sea bass action has been very good, good mix of shorts and keepers. Porgies slowed down a touch but it's still no problem to put some nice ones in the cooler. There's so much life out there right now with sea turtles, sunfish, albies, tons of baitfish, even some whales now and then. The fall is such a great time to be on the water, give Mike a call, you'll be glad you did.

Capt. Mike on the Tartan II said they have been having great trips this week, despite the wind. He said that several of his favorite sea bass spots have been loaded up with big ones and everyone has been having a blast cranking them in. These same spots have had some schools of harbor blues making for some great mixed bag action with bluefish that are perfect smoker size. A short ride to a different location is providing battles with big blues. Porgy action has been amazing all year and the big ones just keep on coming. The whole area seems to be loaded with bait and the albies are taking notice. The fall is Mike's favorite time of year to be fishing why don't you give him a call and find out why.

Capt. Mike on the Tartan II said the Fall Run is on and everyone is having a blast. It seems like everything turned on all at once as bass, bluefish, porgies and sea bass are feeding with a purpose. The water has been boiling with life too; lots of bait, a whale here and there, a big turtle, albies... it's been a great week and things are just going to keep getting better now. Give Mike a call to get in on this fast fall action with many species taken on every trip. Sounds like fun to me!
