Tartan II

September 9, 2019:
Capt. Mike of the Tartan II said they were still on that crazy sunset bluefish bite and it's showing no signs of slowing. Some bass are mixing-in as well—they're still waiting for some big bass to rejoin the party. Sea-bassing has been red hot again this week with some really nice fish in the mix. Porgies are there too and biting with ferocity—as per usual. Stripers overall are still on the slow side, but with the fall run now beginning, that could change at any moment and likely will.

Capt. Mike of the Tartan II said the bite for big sea bass stayed hot through the week and again, he's seeing some of the biggest sea bass he's ever seen in the Sound right now. Limits have been pretty easy to come by and everyone is having a ball. Porgies... you can catch as many you want—limits are not a problem. Bluefish action has been as good as it gets—fast action, crazy visuals and fish of all sizes fighting over your bait. Fluke results are slowing down now. And they started seeing fewer chub macks and more bonito this week.

Capt. Mike of the Tartan II said they've been catching some really nice sea bass this week, some of the largest Mike has seen in the Sound! The bottom action has been spectacular for porgies and sea bass—limits are not a problem. Bluefishing has been really good with a wide mix of sizes, fast action and some big ones to keep you on your toes. Striped bass has been good, but most of the fish have been on the smaller side lately. Overall the trips this week were great with several species boated every trip and bent rods the whole time. Give a call to get in on it.

Capt. Mike of the Tartan II said the sea bass bite has been very good this week and most trips have limited out of sea bass and porgies. Fluke action has also picked up and we're seeing more keepers again. The evening trips have been very good for stripers, but keepers have been a little tougher to count on. The blues, though, have been large, but they aren't always easy to find. But no matter how you slice it, the action has been great and the fishing has been a blast. Give a call to get in on the action!

Capt Mike on the Tartan II said they had an amazing week, as sea bass and porgies have been red hot, with lots of nice fish and fast action. Fluke has been slow so they have been concentrating on other species. "Bass and bluefish have been off the charts, the sunset trips of been especially exciting," Capt. Mike said, reporting on a nice mix of sizes from schoolies up to the 20-pound class, and right at that hour of sunset the fish seem to get even bigger. The influx of chub mackerel has made things even more exciting with blitz conditions and cool sightings of sharks and other exotic marine life. "The fishing is great come on down," he said.
