Trade Winds Marina

July 16, 2018:
Over at Trade Winds Marina Larry Thompson told us of a slow week. Larry said while fluke fishing remains solid, with a 15 to one mix of shorts to keepers, not too many boats sailed out of the marina during the week, and only a few fished over the weekend.

"Mother Nature really had it in for the fishermen this past week," said Larry Thompson at Trade Winds Marina. Larry said between the super hot weather early in the week, late week rains and the nor'east winds over the weekend no one sailed out of the marina. One boat sailed on Saturday morning and did a quick return when he saw the water off the Hook, Larry said.

It was a good week of fluke fishing for boats sailing out of the Trade Winds Marina stated Larry Thompson. Larry said fishing was a mixed bag with some boat finding their catch dominated by short fish, while others decking their limits of keepers and playing catch and release with plenty more fish. Most of the better fishing was in the back bay around the Triangle and on the Keansburg and Keyport flats along the south side of the bay, he said.

Good fluke fishing and good shark fishing was also the word at Trade Winds Marina. Larry Thompson said boats fishing out of the marina enjoyed good fluke action all week with the best fishing in the Reach and off Earle. Dave Rubay and Randy Ciprich made the trip to the Mud Hole and caught a mix of blue sharks, brown sharks, a hammerhead and a pair of small makos. Larry said some big bass are still being caught but you have to fish the ocean after dark on the troll.

The week stared with some big stripers being boated, said Larry Thompson at the Trade Winds Marina. Larry told me Keystone angler Greg Gruber and his family of Palmerton enjoyed an excellent early week trip with bass to 45-pounds. The rest of the week boats fishing from the marina saw up and own fluke fishing and occasional bluefish, Larry said.
