Bullet Hole Annex

June 18, 2018:
One of the first persons to tell us of spotty fluke fishing was Nick at Bullet Hole Annex. Nick said this past week saw a bigger number of short fish, however most fishermen are coming in with a few keepers. Sea bass fishing has been very good but here to you have to pick through the shorts to box some keepers. Striped bass fishing had been mostly in the ocean down from the Hook and off the Hook on the troll.

Word on the big bass and bluefish off Sandy Hook was the first report we got from Nick over at Bullet Hole Annex. Reports coming into the store late in the week told of big bass being taken on topwater baits and live bunker. Nick also said he got mixed report on the fluke fishing and good reports on the sea bass action.

It was a good week in the brine, despite the weather according to Nick over at Bullet Hole Annex. Anglers fishing Raritan Bay found most of the bass action in the channels on mojos and spoons. In the ocean livelining bunker was the ticket. Here too we were told sinker bouncers were into a 10 to 1 mix of short to keeper sea bass. Fluke fishermen also saw more shorts than keepers, Nick said.

"With sea bass, fluke, stripers and blues to choose from, a lot more people are fishing the brine," said Nick over at Bullet Hole Annex. Nick said he got word of some good size bass being caught in Ambrose Channel and the Reach on the troll. The first fluke reports to come into the store showed mixed results. Some anglers reported a lot to smaller fish, while others told of limit catches of keepers. Likewise sea bass got mixed reports depending on who you talked to and where they were fishing, he said.
