  • November 27, 2017 Open or Close

Tim from Fishtales Bait and Tackle reported good fishing was had post Thanksgiving for striper and blackfish anglers. Shop regular Wayne H and his pal Frank did a good number on Friday with their limit of tog on green crabs. It was so good for this duo that they ventured back out on Saturday to less than stellar fishing with only a few keepers between them both. The tip of the hook (Sandy Hook) was all the stripers you wanted on both Friday and Saturday with jigging and trolling the ticket. All in all, not a bad weekend.

Tim Riley at Fishtales Bait and Tackle said reports coming into his place told of very good bass action in the ocean down from Sandy Hook most of the week. With the bulk of the bass being caught outside, it was a slow week for the store. The shop will be closing for the winter in early December.

  • November 13, 2017 Open or Close

A good number of stripers made the scale over at Fishtales Bait and Tackle. Tim Riley told me Frank Hollosi hit the Rips one day for bass top 25 pounds, and then dropped south off the Nude Beach on his next trip and did equally well. Mike Gidiny opted for bottom fishing and worked the rock piles in the bay finding a slow bite of whitechins topped by a 5-pound tog. Doug Baillie fished Perth Ambry Beach and caught linesiders to 37 inches. Lastly Jim Chambers did some snagging and dropping off Deal and Asbury Park and got into a steady bite of bass to 40 pounds.
