A call to the folks over at Ramsey Outdoors got us another good report on the fluke fishing. They told us warmer waters in the ocean has heated up the fishing their and fishing in Raritan Bay and surrounding waters remains a steady bite of shorts and keepers. In addition they mentioned some good tuna action with yellowfin, bluefin and mahi being caught in the canyons.

    At Ramsey Outdoors we were told of a slow down in the striped bass action along the northern coast. Bluefishing has been hit or miss and fluke fishing has also been up and down. Bottom fishermen are pulling ling and a few cod. Some of the best fishing as been the shark fishing which is putting some decent size jaws on the end of lines, they said.

    The folks over at Ramsey Outdoors also told us of a good week of fluke fishing in Raritan Bay. They said by mid-week the number of keepers being caught really started to increase and limit catches got more common. In addition they said changing winds pushed cooler water into the inshore waters and produced some very good catches of big ling and small and medium cod. Bluefish numbers were also on the rise along the inshore waters, they said.

    Over at Ramsey Outdoors we were also told of a 10 to 1 mix of short fluke to keepers in Raritan Bay. A few fluke are also starting to be caught in the ocean but the best fishing has been the sea bass action. Bluefishing has been hit or miss with a lot of smaller one to three pound fish being caught. Striped bass fishing has been picky in Raritan Bay but decent in the ocean off Sandy Hook.

    A call to Ramsey Outdoors brought word of good size bass being caught of Sandy Hook. Most of the fishing was on Wednesday and Thursday when schools of bunker moved into the area. Fluke fishing is still being dominated by short fish, but some nice keepers are also being caught in the bays and rivers. After the seas settled down from the early week windy weather sea bass bounced back nicely, we were told.
