October 15, 2018:

The train bridge, the Route 35 Bridge, and canal are giving up some stripers at night on eels. Sea bass and porgies have been good at the wrecks and reefs, and he, too, had heard about the tuna at the Mud Hole. He has seminars at the shop beginning with one on Maja bunker spoons next week.

At Gabriel Tackle, Frank was hoping to get some reports from the oceangoing folks with the weather clearing up at last. "Hopefully the wrecks and reefs will pick up right where they left off and we have a good ending to fluke season," he said. The surf remains good with plenty of cocktail blues around; the bait of choice is mullet, or epoxy jigs or metals. The Manasquan River is still holding some nice size fluke and stripers at night by the bridges on eels. Plenty of snappers still in the bay and crabbing is still doing pretty good. Fluking at the mouth of the canal remains productive and they are getting a good fluke bite at the south end of the bay, he said.
