Capt. Seth Sportfishing

September 16, 2019:
Captain Seth Sportfishing on The Otter said they didn't let the winds hold them back this week. They braved the wind and waves for some really good fishing. They caught very few short bass this week, most of the fish taken were in the 32- to 40-inch range with a few over 40 pounds in the mix. On Saturday the ladies from CT Adult Probation came out and put the hammer down on some nice bass in the 35- to 45-inch class. They also cashed in on some albies taken on light tackle. The fall run is shaping up nicely, don't miss out!

Captain Seth Sportfishing on The Otter said Dorian presented a bit of a speed bump but before the storm came through they were doing very well. On most trips they could barely get a second rod in the water before the first one was tight. Most of the fish were keeper size or better. Blues have been showing in greater numbers now too which is making things even more interesting. September is a big fish month, book your trip ASAP.

Captain Seth Sportfishing on The Otter said bass fishing is still strong with fish in the 30- and 40-pound class caught on every trip. Olga from Naugatuck showed the boys how to do it on Monday's trip, when she boated a nice 38-pounder. All the big fish are hitting Bruce's famous Otter tubes, with the darker colors like purple, olive and blue taking more fish this week. Joe Nero's group did a great job keeping a few small ones for the table and letting three fish over 35 pounds go to help restore the stock. That's what we like to see! They are still catching bonito but expecting that to dry up pretty soon and bottom fishing for sea bass and porgies remains solid.

Captain Seth Sportfishing on The Otter called it another amazing week and said that, "The bass are still crushing the red Otter Tubes. Saturday, we had a group of guys from Buffalo catch their first stripers going 44, 38 and 31 pounds. We also had a fun day with the raffle winners from Warriors for Warriors, the bass were on top and we caught a pile of bass between 32 and 38 inches on light tackle, then made a short move and hammered mackerel and bonito. Sea bass and porgies are also red hot for those who enjoy bottom fishing." On the Otter you can pretty much pick your trip—big bass, fast action, sea bass porgies, bonito... Seth can do it all. Give a call to book a trip this fall!

Captain Seth Sportfishing on The Otter said, "The fishing this week has been absolutely unbelievable! We had our first bass over 50 pounds for the year, going 51.1 pounds, caught by Tom Moylan from Ashby MA. We had at least a dozen bass over 35 pounds this week as well. Greg Whitehead from Newtown got his personal best at 44 pounds and John Charrette of Boston released a 49-inch, 48-pounder as well. Joy and Jamie Boyer and co had an amazing trip Saturday morning. It started off slow but we dialed them in and they all caught bass between 44 and 47 inches. All of these big fish are clobbering Capt. Bruce Millar's Otter Tubes with Otter Tails attached; pink, chartreuse and blue have been the hot colors. C'mon down, the fishing is really starting to heat up!"
