The Dock Outfitters

October 15, 2018:
John at The Dock Outfitters said the cooler air temperatures hopefully will chill the water and get the bait moving. There have been small bass around hitting on the beach, but the shift in temperatures should be enough to get the bigger fish in gear. Best way to find out is get out and fish.

John at The Dock Outfitters said there are small blues hitting cut mullet in the surf and the occasional short bass in the mix. "If you're not fishing first and last light in the surf right now you're missing out on 90 percent of the action!" he said. The mullet run seems to be slowing, with the size of the blues being taken right now shrinking daily. He said some cooler weather will bring the larger bait schools closer to the beach. "Remember it's still early in our area for the fall bass and bluefish run," he said.

John at The Dock Outfitters said there are plenty of small blues around and tons of bait in the surf. "The bigger fish will be here soon, but don't sit at home waiting for the phone to ring," he said. "Diligence and perseverance is the keys to success in surf fishing, just ask any top notch surf angler." They still have a few boats in the water for the weekend for those who like to take one last shot at crabbing.

John at The Dock Outfitters said there have been small to medium size blues along with some hungry small bass chasing schools of bait including mullet in close. There have been southeast winds helping matters along. Crabbers out back are still picking a few keeper crabs.

John at The Dock Outfitters said the mullet run is underway and there are small blues and bass showing up in the surf and around the inlet areas. Small swimmers and metals with mullet profiles will catch fish. Cut mullet on a high-low rig will work for smaller fish, and he recommends a mullet rig when the blues get larger. Cut bunker fished on a fish-finder rig will be the ticket to catch the big bass when they show up. They are still picking some decent keeper crabs but not as many as before.
