Bob's Bait and Tackle

September 9, 2019:
Bob Rose at Bob's Bait & Tackle in Amity Harbor reported the bottom fish action is good in the bay with blowfish, weakfish and fluke. Any of the deep holes have produced well on the puffers and kings, while the edges of bars and drops producing best for the fluke. In the ocean bonito and tuna are around the inlet and within 10 miles respectively, while sea bass and porgies are active on the reefs and pieces. Off the pier at Tanner, tons of snappers, blowfish and crabs are still red hot.

    Bob Rose at Bob's Bait & Tackle in Amity Harbor reported the best fluke action has been in the ocean at the 60-foot depths Bunker pods are outside too, with threshers chasing them. Blowfish and kingfish are in the bay, taking small strips of clam. Snappers and crabs are hot off the docks, with snappers at the 10-inch mark.

    Bob Rose at Bob's Bait & Tackle in Amity Harbor reported fluke fishing was good in the ocean all week with all the reefs and wreck areas holding a lot of keeper size fish, with sea bass as well. In the bay, the inlet and bridges are best for fluke, using spearing and squid on the hook. Plenty of blowfish are in the EastWest Channel on clam baits with clam chum. The docks are seeing blowfish, snappers and crabs.

    Bob Rose at Bob's Bait & Tackle in Amity Harbor reported the fluke action was good in the ocean near the FI Reef and to the west near Cholera Banks. Blowfish are in the East West Channel taking clams with a good dose of clam chum keeping them close. Off the piers, snappers, blowfish and crabs are red got.

    Bob Rose at Bob's Bait & Tackle in Amity Harbor reported the fluke action was good in the beginning of week in the ocean at the FI Reef and Cholera Banks with many limits and larger fluke. The action was on spearing and squid, and Gulp 6-inch grubs. In the bay, fluke is best the top of the flood tide in the inlet area. Plenty of blowfish and small weakfish are taking clams and clam chum on the north side of the bay. Off the pier at Tanner Park, blowfish, crabs and snappers are very active.
