Bob's Bait and Tackle

July 16, 2018:
Bob at Bob's Bait & Tackle in Amity Harbor said that he had nothing on bass or blues from the local surf but heard from customers who had some good action with bass into the teens at Montauk during the week. Locally, his surf guys have been catching sharks and rays on bunker chunks from Tobay to Robert Moses, and fluke at the Sore Thumb, back of Demo, Oak Beach and the Captree piers. Most of the fluke are falling to bucktails and Gulp on the last couple of hours of incoming.

Bob at Bob's Bait & Tackle in Amity Harbor reported that there was little talk of blues or bass this week. Instead, most surf guys are keeping busy with fluke at Demo, Sore Thumb and the state park piers. Bucktails and Gulp have been the ticket for some good size keepers on the last couple of hours of incoming and first of the ebb. Chunking along the oceanfront is drawing dogfish and rays, along with a very occasional striper.

Steve at Bob's Bait & Tackle in Amity Harbor reported was out prowling around local beaches this week but not finding much to get excited about. He knew of a few bass on the back of Demo at night on swimming plugs, bucktails and swim shads. Small blues have been very hit or miss in the inlet. They are taking tins and bunker chunks. The last half of the incoming is the time to fish to avoid the brown tide. Rays and sharks are taking bunker chunks on the oceanfront.
