Jay from Campsite Sports said schoolie stripers are inside most of the harbors and bays, but a few bigger fish are starting to show. The bigger fish are falling for chunks. No word on bluefish locally yet but they can't be far off. The shop is running a fishing contest for the longest bluefish and the longest bass. Call the shop at 631-271-4969 for more details. The contest is free to enter.

Carmine at Campsite Sports in Huntington had several customers report catching school bass in Manhasset and Little Neck bays this week on bucktails, soft plastics and small swimming plugs. He reminded that striper season is not open until this Friday – until then it is all catch and release. Lots of bait around in the form of adult bunker, peanut bunker and spearing.
