Saltwaters Tackle

June 18, 2018:
At Saltwaters Worldwide Outfitters in West Islip I heard the pods are alive with bass in the 30 plus range. Bunker Spoons, Mojos and live bunker have all produced. Vinnie Conwell had a 54-pound, 3-ounce fish on Saturday. Fluke are solid in the 65 to 85-feet of water. The key is finding the squid. Weakfish are in the Copiague Hole and the Ocean Beach to Saltaire area. Gulp baits have produced well. The night bite for bass has seen a pick on live eels.

At Saltwaters Worldwide Outfitters in West Islip I heard weakfish action was rock solid this week with anglers scoring well from Ocean Beach to points east. The best bite, as always, is the early a.m. Small jig heads tipped with Gulp or a sandworm will put you into the action. Bluefish are all over the bay and chomping at will. For bass, anchor up at the Moses Bridge with clams and you will have a blast. Fluke action was slow, but effort was down as most anglers sought bass or weakfish.
