November 20, 2017:
Michael at Saltwaters Outfitters in West Islip told of plenty of bass along the open beach from Robert Moses to Jones Beach again this week on soft plastics, tins and bucktails with very few over 24 inches. Customers reported a few fish to 32 inches on bunker chunks, and there have been a few better fish on night tides inside the bay and inlet. Be sure to stop by and check out this week's Black Friday specials. Mike added that the shop will continue to have fresh bunker as long as there is a demand.

    Michael at Saltwaters Outfitters in West Islip told of plenty of bass along the open beach from Robert Moses to Jones Beach but most of the action is made up of fish from 14 to 24 inches with a very occasional keeper in the mix. One customer did score a 30 pounder on a bucktail early in the week, and a few better quality fish are being picked at night. Lots of shad are roaming the inlet and there are plenty of blackfish along the inlet rocks, but very few are keepers. Green crabs have been the ticket for tog.

    Michael at Saltwaters Outfitters in West Islip told of a steady pick of bass on metal, plugs and bunker chunks along the Robert Moses parking fields and Demo, with fish to 20 pounds. Best action has been at night or the pre-dawn hours. Most of the fish have been shorts. The fish have been on SP Minnows, darters, metals and bunker chunks. Very few blues being caught in the area. Boats taking plenty of fish to 40 pounds in 40 to 60 feet of water on diamond jigs. The fish have been gorging on mackerel. Blackfish are on the backside rocks at Robert Moses.

    Michael at Saltwaters Outfitters in West Islip told of some bass around on plugs and bait before the blow. The front and back of Demo and Moses, and Cedar Beach saw a pick of bass to 20 pounds, with a couple of 30-pound class fish taken during the week. Good numbers of small weakfish to 2 and 3 pounds this week along the inlet shoreline. Some weaks are mixed with stripers along the mainland shore of Great South Bay from Bay Shore to Bellport. Most of the bass are being taken on soft plastics and poppers. Blackfish are on the backside rocks at Robert Moses.
