John at Betty & Nick's said the information was somewhat limited going into the weekend, and he wasn't sure whether that was primarily because of fewer people fishing due to the weather or because of the fish not biting. But Saturday produced a lot of blues along the island, both of the tailor size and the bigger model choppers. There were some short bass as well but not many folks were fishing Saturday morning. He said the reports have said the fishing has been decent in the two hours before high tide and the two hours after.

On Sunday, Billy Martin stopped in with two fluke to 2 pounds, 12 ounces pulled from the surf on Gulp and bucktails and Pete E stopped in with a 29-pound bass on clams and a 26-inch black drum to boot. There are big bluefish around as well.

John at Betty & Nick's said the weekend rain didn't stop the fish from biting. Saturday he had four fish come to the scales, including a black drum caught by Ken, a 9-pound striped bass by Jessica and a 9-pound, 4-ounce striper for Gene. David had 10 bluefish to 12 pounds. Sunday the water was dirty but fishable and the reports of stripers and bluefish continued into the afternoon. Artie also stopped in with a 10-pound, 8-ounce striper, he said. Lots of fish to be caught right now.
