"Picky fishing on Monday, but we still managed to land some nice quality fluke. A couple of guys had limits and the pool winner was 9-34 pounds," said Capt. Chris Hueth of the Big Mohawk III. On Wednesday the swell finally went away and conditions where good with a lot of guys getting their limit and a 6-pound pool fish while fishing in 70 feet of water. "A Breezy Thursday morning made conditions a little tough, but we still picked a few everywhere we went," he said, adding that some guys had limits and the pool fish went 10 pound, 1 ounce. Chris said his last trip of the season on Saturday saw a fair bite of fish amid some windy conditions. "We will be pulling the boat for routine maintenance this week and should be back on the water in a week or so," he said.

The Big Mohawk III is another boat that did not sail all week because of the weather and seas. Capt. Chris Hueth said on Saturday he did a Wounded Warriors trip and found slow fishing, while on Sunday fishing remained slow as well.

Wednesday's trip aboard the Big Mohawk III started off the week with a solid day of fluke fishing with plenty of limits and an 11-pound, 6-ounce pool fish and several fish in the 6- to 8-pound class. Tuesday also saw a decent catch of fluke with an 8-pound pool fish. "Fishing Wednesday was not as good as the previous two days but we still had several nice fish boated," said Capt. Chris, adding that the Friday fishing bounced back a bit with several limits and a 7-pound pool fish. Chris said thanks to the weatherman the weekend was a bust and the nor'easter the coast is going to have an effect on the remainder of the fluke season which will probably be washed out literally.

"While we had to stay in port a couple of days because of the winds and poor sea conditions, the fluke fishing aboard the Big Mohawk III was very good," stated Capt. Chris Hueth. Several pool fish topping the 10-pound mark came over the rails and average keeper was between 3 and 6 pounds, with average pool fish being 6 to 9 pounds. Most of the fishing has been in the deeper water over rough bottoms and bucktail fishermen have been scoring best with a good number of limits being jigged on each trip. With some good weather predicted for most of this week fishing should serve up some good numbers of keepers he said.
