Canyon Runner Sportfishing

November 13, 2017:
Adam said the Canyon Runner Sportfishing crew had their annual Veterans Day trip where they pay tribute to the service of our veterans by taking them out fishing for free. They had six veterans out and caught three or four fish on a day where there were hundreds of boats. "If you got away from the crowds, you caught fish," he said. "The bass are all over, from Raritan Bay to Seaside," he said saying they're keyed in on the current striper run.

Adam said the Canyon Runner Sportfishing boats have been catching tuna and a few makos and are still making the run offshore as a result. They had more than 20 nice bluefin in the 35- to 50-pound range and one of the makos they released was 73 inches. Adam said the fish are being chunked and jigged. The 48 Viking will be in full striper mode now once the fish show up in hordes and he said they're not too far away.

Adam said the Canyon Runner Sportfishing boats have found the tuna are back in the canyons, including some bigeye. Capt. Deane Lambros ran an open boat charter offshore that pulled in a 200-pound bigeye. They were making a few more canyon trips and then turning their attention to striped bass since the fish finally seem to be on the move.

Adam said the Canyon Runner Sportfishing boats have been dealing with the weather disruptions but before the blow the tuna fishing was picking up. They have headed south of late and in the Wilmington had an excellent trip with a limit of mahi filling coolers, along with multiple swordfish, and big yellowfin hitting on the chunk. They have striper dates planned in November; give a call to reserve your trip.
