The Long Island Boat Show is back with free parking and the latest fishing machines, electronics and marine accessories.

Many boat dealers will offering show specials on options and pricing. There is still time to get into a new boat for this season.

After an absence of several years, the Long Island Boat Show returns to the new Nassau Coliseum this week, running from Friday, April 13 through Sunday, April 15. Unlike past years, parking for the show is free, which should please many of the attendees. Show hours are noon to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Nearly every boat dealer on Long Island will be on hand, with many of them featuring the latest in fishing machines designed for every type of fishing, from the back bays to the canyons. Lots of dealers will also be offering special boat show deals and pricing. You will also have the opportunity to check out the latest marine electronics that can help put you on more fish this season. Shop for all types of marine accessories, marina memberships, tow boat memberships, marine insurance and anything else you might need to make this a safe and trouble-free boating and fishing season.

On Saturday and Sunday, the first 200 children in attendance will receive a free life vest. There will also be free face painting and balloon animals for the kids both days. On Saturday, catch Nature Nick's Animal Adventures with three shows at 12 noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. featuring exotic animals from all corners of the world including monkeys, lemurs, birds of prey, kangaroos and giant snakes. On Sunday, be part of an interactive magic show at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. where the audience will be asked to volunteer and join in the fun.

The US Power Squadron will be on hand every day of the show with their Boating Skills Virtual Simulator where you can cruise around the virtual lake while learning some important lessons, including departing the dock, working with spring lines, moorings, docking and training in strong wind conditions.

And be sure to stop by The Fisherman booth where you can pick up a pair of Star Rods aluminum fishing pliers or dry bag with a renewed or new subscription.

Tickets for adults are $15, seniors $12, and ages 6 to 12 are $5. Children 5 and under are free. For more info, go to www.nyboatshows.com.
