The Montauk Surfcasters Association is seeking nominations to fill all positions on its 2019 Board of Directors.

By Fred Golofaro  |  November 19, 2018
Anyone who fishes the Montauk surf owes it to themselves to become a member of MSA and help support their efforts to protect beach access and our marine resources.

Willie Young, the backbone and president of the Montauk Surfcasters Association, passed away recently. His death has left a large void in the constant battle for beach access and the conservation of striped bass. In hopes of keeping MSA on the right track, the Montauk Surfcasters Association Steering Committee is looking to establish a Board of Directors for the 2019 calendar year. Nominations are now being accepted to fill the following positions:

1. President

2. Vice President

3. Secretary

4. Treasurer

5. Membership Chairman (to be appointed by Board of Directors)

6. Website Coordinator (to be appointed by Board of Directors)

All ACTIVE MEMBERS who are regarded to be in good standing with the club are encouraged to submit their name and qualifications. MSA members in good standing are considered to be those who have paid their 2018 annual club dues prior to receiving this notice, have been a member in the club for no less than one year from the date of 11/15/18, and hold in high regard the values and the mission of the Montauk Surfcasters Association.

Qualified candidates can submit their nomination request in writing by either sending an email to jrywelski@optonline.net or by US Mail to: Montauk Surfcasters Officer Steering Committee, 65 Polo Road, Massapequa, NY 11758. All requests for nominations must be received by the MSA Steering Committee prior to January 4, 2019. All qualified submissions will be reviewed by the Montauk Surfcasters Association Steering Committee. Once the review process is complete, a slate of Officers will be presented to the general membership for a vote.

Voting for the slate, including nominations from the floor, will take place during the club meeting which will be held in January (Date and time to be determined). Once the full slate of officers has been duly elected and sworn in, the new Board of Directors shall be responsible for guiding the policies and conducting business of the Montauk Surfcasters Association between general membership meetings in accordance to the club bylaws. This notice will be sent, a minimum of three times to all Montauk Surfcaster members shown to have paid the annual club dues for the calendar year 2018.
