DAIWA LT SERIES SPINNING REELS WITH ZAION
Developed by Daiwa, Zaion is a “high density” carbon strain material that is 20 percent stronger and 50 percent lighter than traditional nylon and aluminum construction. Within the LT Series featuring Zaion construction are the Ballistic, Tatula and Procyon series reels. All adhere to the LT concept of “Light but Tough.”
The Ballistic LT series reels feature a machined aluminum alloy Digigear designed for smoothness, strength and durability, and the main shaft utilizes the Magseal, which prevents water and debris from entering the reel. Its Zaion housing accounts for it very light but strong construction. The Ballistic series is available in models ranging from 1000 to 6000, and all employ an extremely smooth seven-bearing system. Prices range from $230 to $240.
The Procyon LT Series feature Zaion bodies that reduce the size and weight of the reels, yet provide a rigid framework for their powerful Digigear system. Its ATD drag system uses a new proprietary grease that enables the reel to apply smooth and consistent start up drag pressure from the first pull. Available in sizes from 1000 to 4000 with six ball bearings and one roller bearing, they are an ideal choice for freshwater or light tackle saltwater applications. Prices range from $160 to $170.
The Tatula LT Series of reels are among the lightest spinning reels on the market thanks in large part to their Zaion body, and an air rotor design that is 15 percent lighter yet stronger by dispersing the pressure evenly over the part. These reels also feature the Digigear system and seven ball bearings. They are available in sizes from 1000 to 4000 and have become a popular tool on the pro BASS tour. Priced around $189.
