On February 29, 2020, Congressman Jeff Van Drew visited the Atlantic City Boat Show where he spoke personally with anglers, boaters and business owners on the floor of the Atlantic City Convention Center. A member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Dennis Township, NJ who represents all of Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem counties, along with parts of Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Ocean County, Rep. Van Drew spent a few minutes at The Fisherman booth speaking with managing editor Jim Hutchinson, Jr.

Rep. Van Drew made national headlines when he switched from democrat to republican over his refusal to back the impeachment of President Donald Trump. In January, the President of the United States joined Rep. Van Drew on stage at a rally in Wildwood, the first time in modern history that POTUS has paid such a personal visit to the Garden State’s lower third while putting “South Jersey” into the national news cycle.

Hutch was able to grab a few minutes of time with the congressman at The Fisherman’s booth where the two discussed the Wildwood rally, the President, and the overall state of fisheries (ie., Magnuson Stevens Act) in terms of what saltwater anglers need to know - and perhaps what to do - to help incorporate some common sense and sensibility in coastal fisheries management.
