We're getting closer to our first fishing destination, the weather is getting warmer, and the anglers are becoming increasingly anxious to wet their lines.Since the Excel is out to sea more then she is in port; basic maintenance must be done while underway. Today, the crew was busy mending gaffs to make sure they'll be ready for when the cows start coming over the rail.

Pacific Yellowtail is the larger cousin of Atlantic Amberjack (aka Greater Amberjack) and can grow upward to a hundred pounds. These fish, pound for pound, may be the hardest pullers in the Pacific and can be caught using either live bait or jigs.

Tomorrow morning we have to meet up with customs in Mexico and take on the rest of the passengers, so we were forced to leave the fish biting.

Tonight we are enjoying special treat in the galley courtesy of Jimmy who is making his famous meat sauce.

Oh and by the way...Yours truly was the big winner in the Super Bowl pool!
