|New for 2014
We have an exciting new publishing model to share with you that's designed to increase print readership, increase web traffic and increase your advertising results – all without any added cost.
Our plan revolves around building on our strengths such as our highly popular glossy edition of the magazine, our wide geographic range of coverage, comprehensive weekly fishing reports and now best in class website.
Starting in January, The Fisherman Plus, the glossy paper version of The Fisherman, will transform from its current one week newsstand shelf life to a full four to five-week newsstand “on sale” period. Adding a full month to our newsstand selling period adds an estimated 35% more readers who will see your advertisement throughout the month-long period. It also enables us to distribute promotional copies to all Outdoor Sports and Fishing Shows, Boat Shows, Tournaments and a host of other fishing and boating events within the month rather than just those during the same week of the issue. With thicker issues, enhanced editorial coverage and more online content integration – The Fisherman will influence response like no other magazine.
The Fisherman's traditional weekly publication remains a vital part of our subscription model and is an essential element in how we provide you with the sport fishing industry’s most loyal and active anglers and consumers. Starting in January we'll alter our publishing schedule to include The Fisherman's Weekly Fishing Report Guide starting on March 27, 2014 with issues weekly through November 13, 2014. A total of 26 newsprint issues will focus on fishing reports, news, events and the kind of practical and relevant information that anglers can use to catch fish at that very time. With a focus on in season information, weekly issues are eliminated from the offseason January - March and late November through December. Only subscribers will receive The Fisherman's Weekly Fishing Report Guide, leaving our glossy editions on the newsstand to maximize readership, and improve performance of your ad.
With increased shelf life and added distribution, The Fisherman's 12 monthly issues combined with 26 Weekly Fishing Report Guide issues offers a unique balance of two magazine formats that combines the power and urgency of a weekly with the sustained impact of monthly – but readers will receive significantly more.
Subscribers of any one print edition to The Fisherman will now also receive full access to all 3 regional editions of The Fisherman's online digital magazines and archived back issues! Not only does this add significant incentive to a The Fisherman Subscription, but it enables your advertisements to be seen by readers of our New England, Long Island, and New Jersey/Delaware Bay editions. This new capability results in a significantly expanded geographic reach to the entire Coastal region spanning from Maine through Delaware.
There's more! In January, we add The Fisherman's Fishing Reports (your reports) online to The Fisherman.com as public content free! With nearly 40,000 relevant words added weekly by professional anglers and writers, traffic to TheFisherman.com will literally explode. Adding this enormous body of content will greatly improve the number of visits to TheFisherman.com by optimizing our Google search ranking. We'll also add to the traffic flow by sending weekly email blasts that link to the reports to our entire email database.
As comprehensive as our fishing reports are, clearly there's more fishing information to share and we will. In addition to adding our published fishing reports in January, we're also establishing The Fisherman's Fishing Report Forum. It's a place where the public and fishing professionals can post their reports and images.
It's a smart plan based on logic, research, technology and input from our partners. We're confident in its capabilities to provide you more ad results and we're committed to its success.
