Dave Anderson has been a part of The Fisherman Magazine family since 2002 when he began writing feature articles on surf fishing. Following in the footsteps of past contributors such as Jack Frech and Dave Pickering, he signed on in 2003 as our official plug-building guru and has written a multi-part series on the topic every year since. In 2007, Dave took the helm of the New England edition as managing editor, serving until 2010. Several of Dave’s articles are featured in our Master Angler Series Surf Fishing book.

A respected speaker at shows, fishing clubs and events, Dave has spoken at many events and clubs across the Northeast including the New Jersey Surfcasters Surf Day, the Massachusetts Striped Bass Association, Connecticut Surfcasters Association, and the Plum Island Surfcasters. He has been featured in publications ranging from the Eldridge Tide Book to the Massachusetts Wildlife Magazine and Surfcaster’s Journal.

Throughout the season, Dave can be found working the surf from Point Judith, RI, through the Cape Cod Canal and anywhere in between. He not only writes about building plugs, he owns his own plug-building company: Surf Asylum Lures, makers of  some of the finest needlefish, darters and metal-lipped swimmers on the market today.
