Lou Martinez Lou Martinez

Contributing Writer

Lou Martinez is an avid angler and former champion bowhunter who has received two different sportsman's conservation awards. One was presented by The Rod and Gun Editors Association of Metropolitan New York for his work in protecting and preserving the rights of fishermen and hunters. The second, the "Bowhunter Conservationist of the Year Award” was given to Lou and his devoted wife, Linda,  in the Grand ballroom of the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas. This award was for their efforts in protecting sportsmen’s rights nationwide. In the 1990’s Lou was N J’s “Protect What’s Right” spokesman and was often quoted on T. V. and in the print media. He is a Dale Carnegie graduate and three time public speaking award winner.

Lou's writings have graced the pages of The Fisherman Magazine, Bowhunter Magazine and Field and Stream. He has also been a frequent contributor to the New Jersey Federation of Sportsmen’s Club, Federated News. He served four terms as president of the North Jersey Bass Busters fishing club, fished tournaments for over a dozen years and, along with his friend and mentor Hank Solow, reined as “Bassmaster of the Year" for nine of those twelve years. He has an innate passion for fishing and loves to write about new techniques and tactics. Former Fisherman editor Jim Hutchinson, has called his writing “cutting edge.”

Lou enjoys fishing for bass, both largemouth and smallmouth. He also pursues muskies, pike, pickerel, channel cats crappies and sunfish. A full time toolmaker, he is happily married to his wife Linda and has two adult sons, Robin and Justin. He enjoys his time on the water, and writing about it afterwords.
