Chris Lido
Editor
Chris Lido's life's passions are fishing and hunting and his articles, editorials, television appearances, online videos and photos have appeared across the country. Born in Florida, he moved to scenic Hunterdon County, NJ, at a young age and honed his skills chasing trout, along the South Branch of the Raritan River. With help from his older brother, Joe, he nailed his first slammer blue aboard a Jersey Party Boat at the age of 12. Today, he carries a well-rounded fishing resume.
“Lido” entered the world of outdoor media in 2002 after earning a degree in English and a minor in biology at Florida Atlantic University, where he loathed mathematics, but loved the catching exotic species in the canal behind campus. His first work was with the Asbury Park Press writing tournament round-ups, a freshwater fishing column and new boat reviews before joining The Fisherman as a field editor. In addition to outdoor writing, he is a published poet with emphasis on meter and metrics.
Chris can be found up in a tree stand in the fall, ice fishing in the winter or casting along the beach in early spring. He prefers to add challenge to his outdoor pursuits by tying his own flies and hunting with bow and arrow. His frequent trips to Canada, Maine, the Carolinas and the Florida Everglades have provided him with a wealth of material and knowledge.
Prior to joining The Fisherman as editor of the New Jersey edition, Chris served as field editor for the South Jersey report and as director of the Roving Nature Center, an outdoor education company that helps camps and children's programs.
Always one to look at the positive aspects of fishing instead of focusing on the negative, Chris keeps an open door for readers of The Fisherman who offer suggestions and ideas. He believes that fishing should be fun and uses a variety of multi-media resources to get his point across.
