Pete Barrett Pete Barrett

Feature Columnist

Pete Barrett has fished the East Coast of United States from Massachusetts to Florida, and from offshore to the back bays. For 27 years he skippered the charter boat LINDA B, fishing for everything from fluke to canyon tuna and billfish. An exceptionally versatile angler, he now fishes from an 18’ flats skiff, splitting the year between New Jersey and Florida, fishing fly and light tackle, deep jigging and inshore trolling.

Pete has been on The Fisherman Magazine’s editorial staff since 1973 and served as associate publisher of The Fisherman Library. He has written extensively for The Fisherman, Big Game Fishing Journal, Eastern Fly Fishing, Fly Fishing in Saltwaters, Game & Fish, On The Water and Marlin magazines. He has also been a popular seminar speaker at sport shows and fishing clubs throughout the Northeast.

An author of five books covering saltwater fishing, Pete is a firm believer in gamefish conservation. He is a New Jersey representative for the International Game Fish Association and has served on the Recreational Fishing Alliance board of directors, several state and federal fisheries management boards, and as a U.S. Committee recreational fishing adviser to the U.S. International Commission for Conservation of Atlantic Tunas. Pete has also won numerous gamefish tagging awards.
