Knot Detail

Figure Eight Knot

This simple knot can be tied quickly and used to connect terminal tackle. It is sufficiently strong for fighting panfish and smaller species but may not hold up with large or powerful gamefish. To make this knot a bit stronger, double the line before tying.

1
Step 1

Pass line through eyelet or hook or lure.

2
Step 2

Pass the tag end around the standing line to form a loop.

3
Step 3

Pass the tag end around the front of the standing line and run it back through the first loop; cinch and tighten.

4
Step 4

Completed Figure Eight Knot.
