Editor’s Log: The Fisherman’s Fishing Show & Seminar Returns

Once again, fall fishing is upon us and casters are excited for the anticipation of chasing stripers and bluefish that will be making their return migration along the coast of Long Island. While some persistent anglers pick away at these fish all year, nothing beats the fall run, you can feel the changing season in in air, those cool nights and the sun setting a little earlier each day—all these factors contribute to the movement of bait which fuels some of the most epic bites we see every year. And just as these seasonal changes are taking hold, The Fisherman Magazine will be kicking off the fall run with its landmark fall run event, many of you may have attended or heard of in this show in the past. After a few years off thanks to COVID, we’re back!

The Fisherman Magazine’s big show will once again be held at the Huntington Hilton on September 22. The 2022 show will come in with a new twist, this year the show will cover surf, inshore and offshore fishing as opposed to just surf as it was in past events the magazine hosted. The show will also host nine different seminar slots composed of many knowledgeable and interesting individuals throughout the night which will include a satellite fish tagging panel with a very special guest that you must see, we have also assembled a panel of recent Dream Boat winners and various other seminars that include surf, offshore, light tackle, inshore and fly. Additionally, we have brought on a special guest to talk about why so many sharks are showing up along our beaches. Some of these names are making their first public speaking appearances and you really don’t want to miss it!

On the show floor you will come across over a hundred tables that will feature local shops, plug makers organizations, groups, clothing companies and national manufactures. Product will be for sale at some booths while other will just be showcasing their wares.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the event will run through 11 p.m. The first 500 attendees through the door will receive a goody bag made up of very relevant and useful tackle along with a raffle ticket that can win you some great prizes at the big raffle during the night. As even more incentive, the bags for the first 100 guests through the door will contain braided line, a plug from Yo-Zuri, Fishbites and Fat Cow soft baits and as an added bonus, Steve from Super Strike got us 100 special edition plugs that will go into those bags as well. Don’t worry if you can’t get down early, we still have some cool items in the bags for the next 400 guests that enter the show.

Personally, this will be my first year working the show as opposed to attending the event as a guest. This was something I would look forward to each September and I’m truly glad we were able to bring it back and with some added attractions this year. I’ll also be conducting a surf seminar myself as one of the nine being held throughout the night. My seminar will cover geographical surfcasting throughout the island with a small panel of experts to weigh in on each area. Seminars will be held in three different locations in the hotel. The exact schedule is still in the works as I write this and will be released closer to the show date.

From the entire Fisherman Magazine staff, we look forward to seeing you there!
