Don K out of Amity Harbor Marine caught this 35-inch striped bass near Jones Inlet on October 21st during the peak of the New York striped bass run. Weakfish were on the menu for those who sailed with the Super Hawk out of Pt. Lookout on December wreck fishing trips. Mild and flat-clam conditions in the fall make the perfect sailing opportunity for the Viking out of Montauk to put their customers on sea bass and cod. Pollock, also known as Boston bluefish and sea bass hit the deck for those sailing with the Captain Dave III out of Brooklyn on their late fall bottom trips. Before the season ended on the 22nd of December, anglers on the Captain Lou out of Freeport put a beat-down on the tautog by fishing the local reefs. The Karen Ann from Jamaica Bay fished to the very end of striper season and was still on the fish right to the last days of it too! “Slot” cod found their way into the coolers for fishermen that sailed with the Ebb Tide out of Montauk during mid-December The King Cod from Center Moriches “knows where they live” and will be fishing South Shore wrecks for cod during the winter of ’23.
