Winter doesn’t mean your saltwater season is over. We are very lucky here in New England that we have winter fisheries and boats that will run ‘weather permitting’ all winter long. December is definitely the month that offers the most opportunity to party boat anglers. With boats that run out of Rhode Island and Connecticut, sea bass and cod are on the menu for both states right through the end of the year. If you run out of Rhody you can add blackfish to the mix with that season also staying open until the ball drops in Times Square. The Black Hawk, Sunbeam Fleet, Frances Fleet, Seven B’s and Booked Off Charters are all worth a call if you want to get in on some December bottom fishing action in the vicinity of Block Island. And while the air is cold, the fishing is often red hot and if you’re still cold after a day of cranking ‘em in, these boats have heated accommodations to keep you toasty and comfortable all day long.
