Every year, Sea Tow Services International, Inc. – the nation’s leading on-water marine assistance provider – presents awards to its franchisees for their outstanding service, boating advocacy, community support and more at the company’s annual meeting. This year, Sea Tow Central New Jersey was recognized for their efforts, going above and beyond, when assisting two boaters in danger.

On Tuesday, August 8, 2022, a Sea Tow Central New Jersey captain heard a hail come across the radio that a 22-foot boat had capsized with two passengers trapped inside the hull – a mother and her four-year-old daughter. The captain put out an “all call” to the rest of the team and were on-scene in minutes to assist with the rescue. Weather and water temperatures made the rescue challenging, but in the end, all prevailed. An individual from Beach Patrol entered the capsized boat to extricate the daughter and mother. The two were brought to shore where all people were accounted for and safe thanks to the response of the USCG, Sea Tow Central New Jersey, Barnegat Light Fire Department and Barnegat Light Beach Patrol.

Sea Tow Captains Walt Bohn, Dan Boylan, Joseph Gallinoto and Dan Seigal, along with dispatcher Angela Hamilton, were cited for their efforts above and beyond their call of duty by Sea Tow International. “We’re proud of the entire Sea Tow Central New Jersey team,” said Sea Tow CEO, Joseph Frohnhoefer. “They went above and beyond to assist the USCG and local authorities in this situation to achieve a positive outcome.”
