The 32nd Annual Surf’n Land Tournament will be held on May 21 on the beach at Brigantine. An Association of Surf Angling Clubs (ASAC) sanctioned event, the tournament is open to teams ($60) and individuals ($10) on the beach at Brigantine.
Registration is from 6 a.m. until 7 a.m. at the 16th Street parking lot; beach passes for the event are just $10 at the time of registration. The first session tournament fishing will run from 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., with the second session running from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. In addition to the various prizes awarded after the event, there’s also a Calcutta for most fish ($10) and Calcutta for largest fish ($10).
The ASAC was founded in 1915 by a dedicated group of surf anglers primarily interested in perfecting and improving the art of surfcasting. In addition to promoting surfcasting throughout the region, ASAC also approves and acts as a representative organization for a number of area surf fishing tournaments, with a unique contest format geared towards conservation, competition and camaraderie.
