Capt. Ron Onorato started commercial fishing in the waters off Montauk Point in 1973 as a pinhooker. During that time he fished for striped bass, codfish, weakfish, and he pioneered the art of small boat fishing for giant bluefin tuna. In the 1980's, he landed over 60 tuna weighing up to 804 pounds fishing from his 22 foot Boston Whaler. Giving credit to his inshore experience, Capt. Ron fished extensively for striped bass for over 30 years and has landed two fish over 60 pounds. An accomplished writer as well, he has written numerous articles for The Fisherman Magazine, Saltwater Sportsman, and other well known fishing publications. Since starting his charter fishing business, his customers have landed twenty four striped bass over 50 pounds. He draws upon all this experience to make your trip both pleasant and productive. The Capt. Ron is a custom built 29 foot True World sport fisherman with a complete walk-around layout and is fully licensed and insured. It is powered by a 315hp diesel engine with a true cruising speed of 25 knots. The boat is equipped to the max with the latest state of the art electronics and safety equipment. Other amenities include a fully equipped head and a heated cabin with two bunks. With over 80 square feet of cockpit space, she is as roomy as she is fishy. Although the spacious cockpit could accommodate up to 6 passengers, Capt. Ron only runs with parties of 1-4 anglers to ensure maximum comfort and enjoyment. Capt. Ron has recently added a second boat to the business; a 32 foot SeaCraft center console powered by twin 225hp Mercury outboards that provide a cruising speed of 30 knots with generous range. This boat will be able to accommodate offshore wreck and tuna trips as well as shark fishing.
