Dion of Harbor Bait and Tackle in Huntington reports porgy fishing remains excellent for shore anglers and boatmen fishing the Brush Pile, Sand City and Target Rock. Worms, clams and jigs are catching the scup. Bluefish are anywhere from inside Huntington Harbor to the Shipping Lanes in the Mid-Sound. Jigs, plugs and live bait are catching the choppers which range from 4 to 12-pounds. Carmine Pattali stopped by to show off a 32-inch bluefish he caught at Cable Reef on a diamond jig. Carmine jigged up a bunch of other choppers as well. Stripers are again responding to bunker spoons, tubes, and parachutes at the Triangle. Lots of short sea bass have been showing up with the porgies with an occasional keeper. Blackfish have taken hold in the shallow rockpiles and the shop is loaded up with jigs, rigs and crabs.
