Saturday was a tough grind for the John Fellin group as the new moon and strong tides made anchoring atrocious. Nevertheless the boys grinded out 20 keeper blackfish to 7-pounds and tons of shorts. Sometimes there are going to be days like this, but let’s hope there few and far between. Great job guys. The My Joyce is available on 11/23 and 11/24 for charter. Capt. Kenny of the My Joyce III reports striper fishing remains strong with plenty of slot size keepers. Sea bass fishing also remains red hot, and blackfish has been white hot at Fishers Island. On Monday, however TJ and the boys wanted a day of sharking. It started out as a beauty of a day but changed quite rapidly with nautical seas by the time they arrived at the shark grounds. After a few hours of rocking and rolling, it was fish on and the boys fought and released an extremely large blue dog (tournament dog). They decided enough was enough and came back close to the point and trolled up a bunch of stripers and blues before heading for the barn. Fall fishing is at its best in six years and the time has come to fill the freezer with holiday time seafood. Therefore Ken still has a couple of openings for October and November which now would be a good time to book your blackfish, striped bass, and cod trips by giving Capt. Ken a call at (516) 641-2138.
