Capt. Tom Cornicelli of Ocean Merchant at Moriches Bay Marina reported anglers are still hitting the water in spite of the recent weather. Bear in mind, rain does not affect the fish! Anglers that headed out scored well on bass with again, live spot working best. Blues did arrive, but Tom suggest heading out at first light (false dawn) if you want to score on bass. Once the sun is up for two hours, the blues will invade.

Capt. Tom Cornicelli of Ocean Merchant at Moriches Bay Marina reported the bass action is still very good in the inlet, with live spot still accounting for action. Even during Saturday’s rain, several anglers got out and had fish. Tom sad if you want action, the very beginning of the outgoing, or the beginning of the incoming. If you can coincide either of these tides with first light, you are good to go. The fluke action is building also with warmer weather in the bay. On Sunday morning Ross Digiavanna reported back he was hammering bass on live spot. According to Ross, and this was around 9 a.m., he had bass on virtually every drift!
